Food Truck Rumble® is Perth’s food truck festival, an independently organised community event that brings together the largest gathering of food trucks in Western Australia to showcase and celebrate what’s happening in the growing local food truck scene and feed the rumbling stomachs of the masses!
The inaugural Food Truck Rumble® was held on Sunday 13 April 2014 at the Perth Cultural Centre as a part of the 10th Eat Drink Perth festival. It brought 16 of Perth’s best food trucks together for the first time in a single location for people to experience the food truck phenomenon. It also featured pop-up bar, carnival amusements, swing dancing performances and a cupcake eating competition. The expected attendance was 5,000 but more than 10,000 came to rumble.
The second Food Truck Rumble® was held on Sunday 12 April 2015 at the Perth Cultural Centre again as a part of the 11th Eat Drink Perth festival (featured as one of the main events). There was double the number of food trucks, bigger pop-up bars, additional shade and seating, a mobile app, program booklet, and a break dancing competition – The Rumble 2vs2 Bboy/Bgirl Comp. The second Food Truck Rumble® presented street food and street dance, bringing together two scenes that have emerged from the streets. More than 15,000 people attended the second rumble.
The third Food Truck Rumble® on Sunday 3 April 2016 built on the successful 2014 and 2015 events, continuing to showcase the growing food truck scene with more vendors participating and presenting The Rumble 2vs2 Bboy/Bgirl Comp again. The 2016 event also included arts and culture in the program with markets and live music.
